WAITING IN GOD’S TRAFFIC

I am so glad to be back, bringing the good news to you once again. Thank you for your mails, thank you for always finding time in your busy schedule to PEEP into THE WORD. What God has started in you, I pray he continues, and brings into completion in the day of Christ, amen.

 (Psalms 130:5)

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits and in his word I hope” Permit me to add a second text;

(Psalms 126: l)

“……… We were like them that dream”

I looked up the word, WAIT, in the advanced learner’s dictionary; to wait, is to STAY where one is, to DELAY ACTING until HELP comes. It is to HALT ACTION until SOMETHING HAPPENS or until SOMEONE COMES.

Have you ever been stuck in traffic while rushing to an appointment?

Ever had to wait to be called on an endless queue? For hours, days and even months?

Have you ever been REALLY hungry while waiting to be served, in a crowded restaurant?

FRUSTRATIONS?  ANXIETY?  HUNGER? ENDURANCE?  DISAPPOINTMENTS?  IMPATIENCE? PERSEVERANCE?

I always like IT, to work as planned, I love to get IT done; FAST, QUICK, ON SCHEDULE and ON TIME, but IT does not always work out as planned, IT does not always happen the way I want IT to.

I don’t know about you, but the DELAYS and WAIT experiences I encounter, are sometimes very unpleasant and inconvenient indeed.

Then there is God’s WAITING ROOM. Oh! Did I forget God’s WAITING ROOM?

This is where you take ticket, and take a seat for hours, days, weeks, months and even years on end!.

Where IT, is NOT according to numbers or faces and where you are called ONLY when YOU are ready for IT, or when HE is READY for YOU.

His waiting room is where the traffic light stays RED for what seems like eternity.

Can we talk about HIS WAITING ROOM a bit?

It is where you wait DAYS, WEEKS, MONTHS and sometimes YEARS for IT to happen.

Where you EXPECT ANSWERS but SEE HIS HANDS.

Where you FOLD your arms and QUIETLY LONG for HIM to COME and where all your QUESTIONS are answered with MORE PROMISES. Is there anyone WAITING on HIM?

Call it God’s TORTURE CHAMBERS, but it is the ONLY place you’d ever get THE BEST of God.

It is where you’d GROW UP, LEARN and WAIT for THE JOB, the PROMOTION, the RAISE, the SPOUSE, the CHILDREN, the CAREER, the HOUSE, the CAR, and the BLESSINGS.

It is where you ENDURE what you DO NOT LIKE in order to RECEIVE what you WANT AND where you receive the GOODNESS of God.

Lamentations 3:25 says ‘The Lord is good to them that wait for him’

To WAIT, DELAY ACTING, or STAY PUT, is to DO YOUR PART and ALLOW God DO HIS.

It is to continually TRUST in him even when NOTHING is happening, and when IT is NOT WORKING.

Psalms 25:15, 21 says ‘For thee I wait all day long… for I wait for thee’. To wait is to continue to long for him, and to rely upon His word even when the opposite seems to be happening. It is to absolutely and confidently stand upon his promises, even when OTHERS believe you have been taking for a ride.

Ps 119:89 says ‘Forever your word is settled’ Once he says it, consider it DONE, the glory of God will not lie. ‘But what if IT does not work?’ ‘What if it fails?’ ‘What if it does not happen?’ Those are IMAGINATIONS, STRONGHOLDS, get rid of them! Isaiah 49:23 says ‘Those who wait upon the Lord shall not be put to shame’ Not those who worry, not those who fret, but those who WAIT!

God knows that, to shame you will be to shame himself, so stop worrying about what might NOT even be. Each time you start to worry, you are saying, ‘God, I don’t believe it will happen, so I want to help’

God does not need your help, He is up to something NOW! He is in the PROCESS.

Did you know that God FASHIONS IT in OBSCURITY, and WORKS IT OUT in the MIDST of DARKNESS? ‘In the beginning…….. The earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved” (Gen 1:1,2) Even though it is still dark, the spirit of God is moving, be patient, Ps 37 :9 says, ‘Those who wait for the Lord shall possess the land’ You WILL still HAVE IT! God’s DAY starts in the evening, through the dark nights, and ultimately ends in the morning, for, ‘there was evening and there was morning, the first day …. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day….” (Gen 1:5,8, 13, 19, 23, 31)

Let me complete my second text, as I close:

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits and in his word I hope”

“When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream”

You see, the Hebrew word translated WAIT, in our text, is QAVAH. It is to bind together by twisting; the extension of a cord or rope from one end to another. The IDEA is that God is at one end of the cord, while the HUMAN HEART is at the other end, PULLING at God and LONGING for him, more than the watchmen on the last watch of the night LONG to be RELIEVED of their DUTY by the coming of the day.

So you WAIT, and you begin to PULL. It’s a twisted cord. PULL. It’s STRONG, PULL.

‘For surely there is an end, and thine expectation shall not be cut off’ (Pr 23: 18) PULL. With might, PULL. With strength, PULL. ‘And those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength’ (Is 40:31) PULL. PULL. ‘And those who wait upon the Lord…they shall… not be weary …. And they shall not faint’ (Is 40:31) PULL. Nothing happens, PULL. ‘And wait on thy God continually’ (Hos 12:6) PULL. Nothing moves, PULL ‘My soul wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from him’ (Ps 62:5) PULL. PULL, PULL, PULL. And just as you are about to QUIT, just as you are about to run out of steam, you suddenly find God STANDING right before you, at the end of the rope!!! “….and you are like them that dream”

Suddenly, GOD, and EVERYTHING you’ve been PULLING at; the JOB, PROMOTION,  SPOUSE, BLESSINGS, WISDOM, POWER of God, BREAKTHROUGH, HEALTH, WEALTH, and IT, whatever IT is,

Suddenly they show up before you, and God does a 360° TURN AROUND in your situation!

Just when you thought He had forgotten you, just when you thought IT was over, God ARRIVES on the SCENE from BEHIND the SCENE, and,

“The Lord turns again YOUR captivity, and YOU are like them that dream. And your mouth is filled with laughter and your tongue with singing; and they say among the heathen, the Lord has done great things for him. The Lord has done great things… whereof we are glad”. (Psalm 126:1-3)

May the Lord bless the reading of His word, amen.

‘The eyes of all wait upon thee… thou givest them their meat in due season’ (Ps 145:15)
