I RECOVER ALL

“David recovered all. And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those othercattle, and said, This is David’s spoil.” (1Sam 30: 19-20)

BACKGROUND
One of my favourite portions of scripture. David had recently been robbed by a band of marauding Amalek warriors, while he was away. They raided his village; took the entire cattle and sheep, took the women and children, and destroyed the houses, the farms and the entire village. His friends threatened to kill him as they all lost everything too. “So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, andtheir sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.” (v.3)
David was angry and prayed to the Lord for guidance and God asked him to go after what was rightfully his, and to recover all.

Today I want to talk to someone, who has been robbed by the enemy. I want to talk to somebody who has been deprived of what is his/hers, someone who has been denied and left with nothing.

David woke up one morning and found out he had been attacked; his home had been taken from him; his wife, his children were gone with the wind; his business closed down infront of him and he no longer had a job to call his own. His friends who lost everything called him a bad investment, they accused him of bringing the disaster upon them. Everywhere he turned, David was the villain.

Have you ever woken up to chaos, disorder, calamities and trouble?
Have you felt the threat of a breakdown in relationship with spouse, partners or friends?
Have you ever watched helplessly as everything you took time to build, start to fall apart infront of you?

DAVID REFUSED TO GIVE UP
David didn’t throw in the towel. When all hell broke loose and things fell apart, he went back to God ‘And David inquired of the Lord’ (v.8) He cried out to God and asked for strength to fight back and he found strength in God ‘David strengthened himself in the Lord’ (v.6)
Are you ready to take back what the enemy claimed form you?

DAVID WENT TO WAR
“So Davidset out, and the six hundredmen who were with him,” (v.9)
David went to war. He went on his knees and took up the fight. He wasn’t just going to allow the enemy thread on all that he took ages to build. David wasn’t going down without a fight.
Are you ready to fight for what is yours?

“David recovered all. “
